Female genital cutting (FGC) is not indigenous to Australia and Oceania, however girls and women in diaspora, refugee and migrant populations are known to be affected by the practice. A small scale study in Australia found that 23 paediatricians out of 1,000 had seen 59 girls that had undergone FGC.
